What I can say is that there are others like you, and that they can be North stars that help you in your journey. You don’t have to do this alone.
// In the beginning, the fact that I had to return to Mexico to achive my most sought-after dream made me sad. I knew that it was a country that would considerer me a foreigner…
—Me llamo Rufino Santiz Díaz, Cairo, Georgia-Chamula, Chiapas, I couldn’t fix my papers. I started the process when I first came back, two years ago. It is frustrating. I can’t study here, and I couldn’t study over there // Mu’ yuk xu’ ku’un smeltsananbel sk’oplal li jvuntake. Ijtambe ox smeltsanbel sk’oplal ti’alal ach’ to ox lisutale, taje oy xa xchibal jabil. Ta xchibal ko’ ontik yu’ un. Mu stak’ jchanvun li’toe, mi ja’ uk taj toe // No pude arreglar mis papeles.
